Teenage son Bradley watched his mother Suzon go from a classic modern-day soccer mom to a crack addict selling prescription drugs to afford her next score. She became addicted to crack cocaine only two years prior, and in that time any normalcy in her life has been completely lost. On "Intervention" (Mon., 10 p.m. EST on A&E), he revealed that the situation at home got so difficult for him emotionally, that he attempted suicide a year ago.
Even worse, this incident only sobered his mother for two months before she relapsed back into her addiction. "That couldn't even bring her to her knees, to see her son literally almost dead," he said. If that wasn't her rock bottom, how were they going to possibly help her?
To make matters even more difficult, Suzon's mother holds a lot of resentment toward her daughter. The anger she gets from her mother pushes Suzon's stress levels, which leads her to use. Thinking about having chosen drugs over her three children causes Suzon to use. This intervention was possibly her last chance.
When her mother tried to hijack the intervention itself and make it about her, she was only going to push Suzon right back into the drugs that she uses already. Luckily, this time there was a professional, Candy Finnigan, on-hand to try and keep her focused -- as well as suggesting that she may well be co-dependent. Because of that, Suzon was convinced to go to rehab, and appears to be well on her way to getting her life and family back.
After a failed suicide attempt of her own after Suzon's intervention, her mother wound up in therapy and is learning how better to cope with her emotions and relationships as well.
"Intervention" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on A&E.
